Killsmith & The Greenfire Empire

The Last Rock Opera

Westport, CT – From Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame drummer, song writer and founding Alice Cooper band member, comes his latest killer album. The third in his solo KillSmith series. This conceptual metal adventure will undoubtedly be the last rock opera, destined to become a movie! The story of a poor boy who grows up in the jungles of South America, then becomes “Diablos the Emerald King” the most ruthless and powerful drug lord in the world. As a young boy he makes a discovery of an ancient secret that has been hidden for thousands of years in pre-Columbian jungle ruins. The secret he discovers is an ancient sacrificial drug called “GreenFire.” As GreenFire’s deadly addiction spreads like wildfire around the globe, it reaches a country called “Blue Soul Land.” The havoc it creates in “Blue Soul Land” will unleash the rage of KillSmith with grave consequences. “GreenFire Born Of Poison” is the first single off of the album.

    • Conceptual LP made a flourishing start late 60s with the legendary album ‘SF Sorrow’ by The Pretty Things, early 70s with ao the famous ‘Tommy’ by The Who, or “Tales of Mystery and Imagination” by The Alan Parsons Project. Any self-respecting group dared already embarking on a successful or unsuccessful collection of songs with a clear thread.

Neal Smith, drummer and songwriter Alice Cooper, must have gotten over him a moment of reflection have when he completed this rock / metal album. ‘KillSmith and the Greenfire Empire’ is the third album of a trilogy, about ‘a poor boy “that a drug baron by the discovery of the drug’ green fire ‘in the catacombs of the jungle. Whether this is later made into a film, as he himself suggests, the future will tell. But this Kill Smith is well received, prove the provisional sales (25,000 in no time).

And yes, you rock immediately with the catchy opener “Blessings and curses’ in which the metal guitar still gets assigned a wah-wah -gitaartje. ‘Blue Soul land’ then hopped quietly in retro 1-2 tempo (I hear Dr. John?), With a bluesy piano accompaniment. In ‘Screaming Bloody Murder’ the guitars tear through the speakers (play loud) (guitarist Rick Tedesco). And then the instrumental ‘Kill Smith Overture’ which opens with Spanish guitar, backing vocals imploring a clean blows in your ears and bombastic evolves into a south American orgasm. To once again head banging enter the jungle to “Palacio Esmeraldas. In ‘Pandemonium’ hell gets full metal-cast over himself with distorted vocals.
But too bad that the plate does not end as strong. Is the musical inspiration in the last songs apparently succumbed to the sultry tropical heat. “Noelle no wonder” closes the album with a piano ballad. A few original (corny) love song with some strings of bassist Peter Catucci.
But perfection is not of this world, nor of Neal Smith with “KillSmith and The Greenfire Empire” a fascinating concept album might be delivered that will have regular (¾) blaring through the speakers.
